I recently tried out the Pegan Diet for a 30-day challenge video and so I had to get creative to make some easy paleo and vegan meals to consume in my everyday life. Since I didn’t have much time to spend on cooking elaborate Pegan-compliant dishes, I opted for smoothies: they are easy and quick to make and drink on the go, and their glycemic index is low as well.
Indeed, as you may remember from my previous blog post, Dr. Hayman’s Pegan diet emphasizes the consumption of veggies and low glycemic fruits, like cherries, strawberries, berries, peaches, pears, and apples. Therefore, I decided to combine them with other Pegan-compliant ingredients, such as cacao powder, flax seeds, and matcha powder, and create these 9 plant-based and delicious smoothies that are Pegan diet approved.
Why are these smoothies good for weight loss?
Many people think that regular consumption of smoothies could negatively affect weight loss, due to their high sugar and calories content. However, this is not true for my 9 Pegan Diet Smoothies.
This is because they are complete of each and every macronutrient -proteins, healthy fats, carbs, and veggies. The combination of these ingredients may help keep you fuller for longer and reduce sugar cravings.
Besides, these smoothies are low sugar and low glycemic and can help you reach your recommended fiber and veggies intake. Many of the ingredients I chose to use are also research-backed to help with weight loss and maintenance.
So, what are you waiting for? Discover these 9 tasty and super healthy recipes, and let me know which one you liked the most!
Note: I am not advocating for this diet in particular. Just trying it out and sharing what I learn! 🙂
